Abstract

Studied in the pages that follow are the main characteristics of the party systems and subsystems
that emerged from the last autonomous regional elections that were held. The data obtained
in each autonomous region concerning fragmentation, the number of parties, concentration,
competitivity, polarization and inconstancy is analysed and compared with the values that these
dimensions reach in other autonomous regions, as well as the data recorded in earlier elections.
The conclusion indicates the different systems and subsystems, the general and eccentric models,
that can be distinguished in regard to the respective characteristics of party and electoral competition
norms in these diversified electoral arenas.
