The current migratory processes show the typical features of a global social phenomenon which has its roots in the transformations that are taking place in modern societies, given the high levels of inequalities and shortage suffered in large areas of the Planet. Immigrations are having a significant influence on the reception societies, leading to diverse changes in labour and economic models, in ideas about how to exercise citizenship, in ways of social integration and exclusion and in systems of social stratification.
