This article analyses how cultural factors have defined the processes of organisational change in the Spanish Army. An analysis model was used that was constructed from 23 personal interviews with members of both the Training and Doctrine Command and the Legion Brigade.
On this basis, the following objectives were sought: 1) to establish a model to analyse organisational change; 2) to study the applicability of theoretical approaches developed in the English-speaking world to a Spanish case; and 3) to define the importance of culture in military change. The results showed how culture has a major impact on decision-making processes, the direction of change and the organisational learning capacity of the Army.
