Abstract

This work focuses on political disaffection in Europe. Following the harshest years of economic crisis, data suggest a significant increase in this political attitude. This contradicts the conventional thesis on disaffection which argues the structural nature of the same. By identifying factors explaining political disaffection in Spain and considering whether they are structural or contextual, these results are compared with those of other European countries.

For this, an APC analysis is carried out, using data from the European Social Survey. Results highlight the importance of contextual factors in political disaffection in European countries.
