Estructura de edades, escolarización y tamaño de la población gitana asentada en España

Abstract

This study has three objectives. In the first place, we review existing data on the age structure of the
Gypsy population living in Spain. Secondly, and using the sociological survey carried out within the
Opre Roma project (the education of Gypsy children in Europe), we make a quantification of the
Gypsy population that is sent to school in Spain and its distribution according to the level of
education. Lastly, and using these results, we propose an estimation of the size of the Gypsy
population settled in Spanish territory.
