Dos paradigmas

Abstract

The thesis upheld by the author is that with the State-Nation and social State crisis being
experienced in Europe, we find ourselves in the transition to a new historical and social
formation, which is here referred to as «transmodern» for the purposes of indicating fundamental
discontinuities with the previous formation, in which a new principle of citizenship, known as
«society-based», which differs greatly from things modern (in terms of the State), is confirmed.
This paper aims at interpreting this historical transition as the passing form the symbolic,
regulatory code of inclusion/exclusion, to the relational-non relational, in which the principle of
citizenship is seen in «society-based» terms; in other words, it is built through associative
networks of civil associations.
