In the last two decades, the «Mothers against Drugs» movement has organized itself in Spain
to the extent of proposing before the State and society in general vindications in favour of their
drug-addicted children and drug addicts in general. Using this empirical case, the article rejects
the implicit thesis contained in part of the literature written about social movements which
suggests that groups in a less favoured situation organize themselves in defence of their own
interests; this document defends the view that other citizens can do this for them.
