Reproducción asistida en España: un estudio del acceso, las razones y el éxito de los tratamientos

Este artículo analiza el uso actual a las técnicas de reproducción médicamente asistida en España y ofrece una descripción de los perfiles de mujeres que acceden o desean acceder a ellas. Usando datos de la Encuesta de Fecundidad de 2018 y un modelo de regresión probit simple con variables instrumentales, se examinan los factores asociados al uso y éxito de estos tratamientos. Las mujeres con mayor nivel socioeconómico, casadas y con infertilidad primaria tienen más probabilidades de acceder. Las generaciones jóvenes las usan más, posiblemente por el retraso a la maternidad, mejoras en las técnicas, cambios familiares y avances legales. La principal barrera para acceder es económica, lo que indica un uso potencial insatisfecho. Finalmente, al corregir la endogeneidad, no se encuentra asociación estadística entre variables sociodemográficas y el éxito del tratamiento.
