This article makes an empirical analysis of a model of the relationship between cultural
values and the possibility of achieving the material objectives set by any one society. An attempt
is made to explain and quantify the extent to which the perception of occupational structure,
measured in terms of satisfaction, is related to subjective wellbeing and quality of life in the
work performed by the individual. In order to carry out this analysis, regression and causal
models were constructed in order to see the influence that a group of structural effects and
physical and social wellbeing have on quality of life and subjective wellbeing. The data was taken
from the 1999 Survey on Quality of Life in Work. The results have made it clear that the
models constructed are meaningful, which confirms that increased levels of satisfaction with the
occupational structure implies improved levels in terms of quality of life. When attempting to
see subjective wellbeing levels, then satisfaction with the structure is a better predictor than the
social position occupied in that structure.
